Abstract

The concepts of halal and haram are important in the field of Islamic ethics and law. Concepts that are halal (allowed and legal) and haram (banned and unlawful) are established in the Quran and the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). They play a major role in over 14 centuries of Islamic culture and history. Islamic communities place a high priority on the ideas of halal and haram, both as matters of personal moral significance and as a reflection of the community's values and beliefs. Perhaps one of the most fundamental aspects of Islamic eating practices is the notion of halal. It partly concerns the concepts of energy and welfare. On the contrary, individuals see as harm and unclean those objects that are categorized as haram. Then, they should be avoided.
