Abstract

Tahira Iqbal is considered to be among one of the best writers of Urdu Literature. Her themes, use of language, style make her a unique writer of our age. She understand society and people, satire and a not of rebellion against the brutal exploitation of women. Her writing show a deep sympathy for those women who fall a victim to social, economic, political and physical exploitation in our society. Her novel “Neeli Bar” shows all here major qualities as a master artist in the field of novel writing. The novel “Neeli Bar” touches some aspects, particular of feminism. It brings out her deep observation of our society, where women become a target of humiliation and exploitation by the men belonging to the elite land lords and so called religious leaders called “Pirs”. In this novel Tahira Iqbal has presented her point of view through some female characters named Safoora, Bakhtawer, Azra and Zara. Most of these characters face the same destiny, though in different context and situations. The aim is certainly to make the people realize how women are being treated brutally and mercilessly by feudal and so called lords are elite.
