Abstract

Islam provides balanced guidance in all aspects of life, including the use of metals. Gold is strictly forbidden for men in the form of jewelry but permitted for women as adornment. However, both men and women are prohibited from using gold utensils. In cases of necessity, such as medical use, limited exceptions are allowed. Men may wear a single silver ring not exceeding one mithqal (approximately 4.37 grams), while women may use silver jewelry more freely, provided it is not extravagant. Silver utensils are forbidden for everyone. Jewelry made from other metals like iron, copper, or brass is generally disliked, and rings made from them are discouraged. However, utensils made from these metals are allowed. Women may wear jewelry made of gold, silver, precious stones, plastic, or similar materials, as long as it is modest. Noisy jewelry (like anklets with bells) is discouraged. Items made from animal parts (except pigs) are permitted for adornment. Islam’s guidance emphasizes moderation, practicality, and spiritual wisdom in all aspects of life.
